Of this 9 acres were allegedly handed over to the Tirupur Police by the Hindu Charities Department without informing the local people of the area. Land acquisition for the City Police has been going on since 2013. A new police station building and a police station are to be constructed on the temple land.
People of 7 villages have been protesting for the last three months demanding land for temple use and temple land not to be handed over to the police.

The Tirupur Police tried to engage in training at the Anthipalayam temple land this morning.

Upon getting information about this, the villagers of the area suddenly besieged and got into an argument with the police. This caused a stir in the area. DC Sureshkumar and ADSP Mohan and South AC Naveen Kumar rushed to the spot and held talks with the protesting public.
