Coimbatore: An elderly woman killed as an inebriated youth hit her with his car in Nallampalayam near Pollachi.
Coimbatore: An elderly woman killed as an inebriated youth hit her with his car in Nallampalayam near Pollachi.
Nachimuthu is from Nallampalli village near Pollachi and his mother Kannammal (70). She was sitting at her doorstep yesterday. Gnanasekaran, a resident of the same area at the time who was under the influence of alcohol crashed into the elderly woman.
Following this Kannammal died on the spot.
Gnanasekaran then stopped the car and escaped. Angered by this, Kannammal's relatives engaged in a protest to get Gnanasekaran arrested. Komangalam police rushed to the spot, held talks with the public and promised action against Gnanasekaran.
Following this, the search and protest was abandoned and the public dispersed. Police later recovered the elderly woman's body and sent it to Pollachi Government Hospital for autopsy. Gnanasekaran was then jailed.
