In India, two cities namely Coimbatore in Tamil nadu and Rajkot in Gujarat are known for pumpset manufacturing. Industries functioning in Coimbatore caters to 50% pump set needs across the nation. There are various types of pump sets manufactured to cater to the needs of various sectors such as agriculture, houses,commercial places, industries, government and private offices etc.
Post 'Covid-19', the overall domestic pump set market is witnessing a steady growth. In this situation, more rains witnessed across the nation due to monsoon has made pump set manufacturers happy since more demand is expected in the upcoming months.
The Southern India Engineering Manufacturers Association (SIEMA) President, K.V. Karthik said, "Monsoon has helped more rains to be witnessed throught the nation. This year good rains are witnessed in the places which were usually dry. This has given a big hope to all the pump set manufacturers since more demand will be witnessed in next two months which will be around Pongal. Post 'Covid-19' outbreak the domestic pump set market continues to be doing well. The support given by the government in helping individuals to avail various loans such as housing etc will also increase the demand for pump sets.
He added, "As far as Exports is concerned, Indian pump sets are mostly exported to Gulf and African countries. At present the exportmarket is also good."
Kovai Power Driven Pumps and Spares Manufacturers Association (KOPMA) president, K.Maniraj said, "Previous year lack of support from the government made a big impact in this industry sector, mainly in getting the loans etc. This year during the peak season March, April, May the outbreak of 'Covid-19' virus followed by the lockdown entirely pushed this sector, especially MSME industries to crisis. Now the domestic market is steady and good monsoon has given a big hope since more demand for the pump sets will be witnessed in the upcoming months."
