Coimbatore: One of the three Coimbatore Corporation school students selected through the 7.5% NEET reservation for government school students joined the Stanley Medical College, Chennai. The student who studied at Coimbatore Corporation School joined Stanley Medical College, Chennai yesterday after completing her MBBS counselling. The 7.5 per cent internal quota law has been introduced to enroll medical students from government schools in Tamlnadu. NEET exams were roundly panned by many academics as anti-poor and it’s only in Tamilnadu that this 7.5% quota has been introduced this year by CM Edapadi Palaniswamy.
Out of the 241 students who studied biology in 16 high schools under the administration of Coimbatore Corporation, Sethabakiyam of Ramakrishnapuram Corporation High School, Hemalatha of Ammani Ammal Corporation High School and Dharani of RS Puram West Corporation High School passed NEET examination. They were eligible to apply for admission to medical courses based on the 7.5 percent quota by the Tamil Nady government.
Corporation Commissioner said, Dharani from RS Puram West Corporation High School has got a seat at Stanley Medical College, Chennai. Sethabakiyam from Ramakrishnapuram Corporation High Schoolis attending the counselling today. He added that Hemalatha from Ammani Ammal Corporation High School is waiting for the letter for the counselling.
