Coimbatore: Authorities seized 45 tonnes of urea bundles being smuggled from Pollachi to Kerala seized and sealed the godown. Several instances have been reported in Pollachi where illegally hoarding of government subsidized urea and smuggling it to Kerala. Following this, Revenue officials led by Pollachi Sub-Collector Vaithiyanathan are conducting inspections at the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border.
The Revenue Department received a tip-off that a private company was hoarding subsidized urea at Ganapathypalayam next to Pollachi. Following this, Pollachi Sub-Collector Vaithiyanathan, Anaimalai Tahsildhar Venkatachalam and Agriculture Department officials inspected a private company in Ganapathypalayam last night. It was a gum producing company that used subsidized urea by the Tamil Nadu government agriculture and mixed it with chemicals to make gum and stored urea sacks and smuggled them to Kerala. The authorities confiscated about 45 tonnes of subsidized urea stored in the godown and sealed the godown. They are also looking for Mustafa from Kerala, the owner of the godown.
