Coimbatore: COVID-19 test to be intensified to study if cases have increased after festival crowd in Coimbatore. In Coimbatore district, only 150 to 190 people have been affected by coronavirus infection in the last few days. For more than a month, the coronavirus in Coimbatore that was recorded in the 700s was largely controlled by the district administration and the corporation's preventive measures.

Meanwhile, on the eve of Diwali, the public flocked to the shops to buy sweets and other items. People failed to follow social distancing and wearing a face mask, especially children. As a result, there are fears among officials and the public that the coronavirus infection could spread rapidly again. Following this, health officials have decided to intensify monitoring of coronavirus tests and coronavirus preventive measures violations in Coimbatore. Officials said, "Over the past week, crowds have been seen on the streets of Coimbatore ahead of Diwali festival. To determine if there is increase in spread of the disease intensive monitoring will be carried out on behalf of the health department throughout the district till the end of this month."
Coronavirus test is mandatory for those with symptoms including fever and runny nose. Currently, coronavirus testing is done daily for about 4500 thousand people in Coimbatore district. Of these, 3,000 tests are being carried out in the Coimbatore Corporation area alone. Efforts are being made to diagnose and isolate those infected with corona. Up to 130 people are currently infected with coronavirus every day in the Coimbatore region alone. Coronavirus infection is largely controlled in rural areas and the occurrence of cases has reduced to single digits.
