Corporation officials are involved in the demolition of houses that have been built occupying water bodies in Coimbatore. Residents of demolished houses are allotted houses in flats built on behalf of the Slum Clearance Board and are given tokens.

In that vein, corporation officials and police demolished more than 30 houses that had been built on Periyasamy Road in the Sunnambu Kalavai area of Coimbatore.

Water is transported to Rajavaikkal through the Noyyal River near this area. Houses occupying the water bodies in this area were demolished.
Also, occupants of these houses have been provided alternate housing arrangements at the government-built flats in Keeranatham.
