Coimbatore: District Collector K. Rajamani has said that electrical appliances in Coimbatore should be sold only with ISI certification.
According to a press release issued by him, "District Industries Centre General Manager has been appointed as the implementing authority for Electrical Wires, Cables, Appliances, Protection Devices and Accessories (Quality Control) Order, 2003, and Oil Pressure Stove (Quality Control) Order, 1997.
Accordingly, electrical equipment manufacturing companies, wholesale and retail sellers and warehouses across the Coimbatore district will be inspected by the General Manager or District Industries Centre officials without any prior notice.
The General Manager has been empowered to take samples from manufacturers and vendors during the inspection and send them for testing, confiscate electrical items and oil pressure stoves which are not up to the prescribed standards and take legal action.
Therefore, the companies concerned will be required to manufacture and sell only ISI certified products and action will be taken against them if they fail to do so."
