Coimbatore: The northeast monsoon is likely to continue in Coimbatore for the next two days, according to the TN Agricultural University in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: The northeast monsoon is likely to continue in Coimbatore for the next two days, according to the TN Agricultural University in Coimbatore.
Ramanathan, the Head of Climate Research Center, TNAU in Coimbatore said, “Coimbatore receives northeast monsoon rains in October and November. However, most days of October this year saw only sunshine without rain. The monsoon has been pouring heavily since the beginning of November.
Coimbatore is also likely to receive showers for the next 2 days. This rain is likely to last for a few more days. A cumulative total of 550mm of rainfall has been recorded in Coimbatore district since last January. It is raining heavily and the streams are overflowing”.
Meanwhile, Coimbatore district received 209.80 mm of rain yesterday. Here is the breakup of the rainfall received in various places of the district:
Annur - 12mm
Airport - 34.2mm
Mettupalayam - 17mm
Valparai BAP - 3mm
Valparai Taluka - 2mm
Solayar - 15mm
Azhiyar - 6.6mm
Sulur - 38mm
Coimbatore South - 42mm
Periyanayakanpalayam - 17mm
TNAU CBE - 20 mm.
In all, an average of 14.99 mm of rainfall was reported.
