There are more than 2000 occupied houses in the bund area on Muthannankulam Road. Under the Smart City project, various projects are to be implemented in Muthannankulam. Meanwhile, people living in the area have been allotted houses and tokens by the Cottage Replacement Board in areas including Malumichampatti, Keeranatham and Ukkadam.
Currently, the corporation officials are demolishing the vacant houses with the help of machines. So far, about 1900 houses have been demolished and the demolition of the remaining houses is in full swing.
