This has caused frequent accidents for cars and motorcyclists. The public hence made a request to the Corporation Commissioner Kumaravel Pandian to resolve it.

Following this, on his orders, more than 50 corporation vans have been deployed since this morning in an attempt to clear the stagnant rainwater in Race Course, RS Puram, Poo Market area and Gandhipuram bus stand.

Heavy rains in Coimbatore cause waterlogging in several areas. The motorists are suffering severely due to this. The Meteorological Department had announced rain in the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu. Accordingly, moderate rainfall was experienced in coastal districts and there was heavy rain in one or two places. They also warned that light to moderate showers are likely in many parts of the country.

Areas along the Western Ghats in Coimbatore district have received good rains during the last few days. Also, it was raining sparingly in a few parts of the district during the day and in this condition, the sky has been cloudy since this morning, with light to moderate showers in a few places in the district.

In Coimbatore, heavy rains lashed the area for two hours from 8 pm to 10 pm last night. Areas including the Coimbatore District Collector's Office, Railway Station, Gandhipuram, RS Puram, Ramanathapuram, Ukkadam, Singanallur Avinashi Road and Trichy Road had heavy rains for more than an hour, causing two-wheelers to suffer.

It rained for more than two hours across the district and a cool climate prevailed. Similarly, heavy rains lashed the suburbs of the district such as Thondamuthur, Vadavalli, Alandurai, Madampatti, Perur, Madukkarai and Thadagam, Kanuvai.

Also, most of the water bodies in Coimbatore district are rapidly filling up as it has been raining in the areas adjoining the Western Ghats for the last few days. Also, there is heavy rainfall in the catchment areas of Siruvani Dam. It is reported that the water level of the Siruvani Dam is likely to rise.
