Tirupur: Public in strife as rainwater seeps into some residential areas in Tirupur. This has led them to walk with the support of ropes that are tied up.
There are more than 300 houses in the JJ Nagar area of the 34th Ward under Tirupur Corporation. With only one road from JJ Nagar to Kasipalayam and Nallur, the Sabari stream that has already been encroached is causing difficulty as water seeps into the residential area and obstructing traffic during rains.

Due to the heavy rains in the last few days, the area is surrounded by streams and rainwater, making it impossible for the public to leave their homes.

Due to this, there is a major disruption in the movement of people from their homes to Kasipalayam and Nallur. They said women have to tie ropes and go one after the other for safety as the water stagnation is high. They alleged that the rainwater, stream water mixes into sewage causing infections and skin diseases. They also report that the drinking water sources are also sometimes affected as stagnant water enters homes.

They alleged that they have repeatedly urged the corporation and the district administration to take action but in vain. People also said that they would go on strike if the corporation administration did not take immediate action to remove the stagnant water.
