HMS union, state secretary, T.S.Rajamani said, "It is really a big worry that all the 7 NTC mills continue to remain closed in spite of the relaxations given. On an average each worker under permanent categorygets Rs 14,000 and more as salary every month. At present all the workers are provided with half a month salary since the NTC management has not given permission to restart the manufacturing process in all the NTC mills established across the nation."
He added that, "on the other side, all private owned spinning mills have started to function normally. Before Diwali there were talks held between office bearers of trade unions and officials of NTC, Southern Regional office. NTC officials have replied that they cannot do anything until they receive orders from the head office." He also said, "Based on the request by the trade unions, the management distributed 8.33% as diwali bonus along with their regular half month salary which they are presently getting. Already lack of modernisation and various other issues has heavily affected the growth of the NTC mills. In spite the relaxations given, management not allowing mills to function has made the workers upset."

But it depends on the interest and the initiatives which the NTC mill managements take. Various requests and suggestions submitted to the textile ministry, NTC head office. But still no action has been taken."
