Coimbatore: District Collector K. Rajamani released the draft electoral rolls consisting of 29.7 lakh voters in Coimbatore.

Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are to be held soon and hence authorities are engaged in preparations for this. The draft electoral rolls were released by District Collector Rajamani in front of all political party representatives.

Following this, he told reporters that according to the list released today, there are 29.7 lakh voters in Coimbatore district.
Of these, 14,68,722 are men, 15,02,142 are women, 369 are transgenders. While 15,165 new voters have been added, 24,727 people have been removed from the voter list. Names have been deleted for reasons including death, change of address and recurrence of the same name. The number of people removed due to death is low as only less than 500 people have died due to coronavirus infection in Coimbatore.
Special camps will be held at respective polling booths on the 21st and 22nd of November and 12th and 13th of December wherein people can change their address and include new names.
These works are scheduled to take place over the next one month. Those who have turned 18 by January 1, last year will have to add their names to the new voter list. The District Collector said the complete voter list will be released soon.
