Pollachi: 70 cases booked on violators for causing public nuisance on Deepavali in Pollachi Taluk
In a crack down on the tipsy motorists and other violators during Deepavali celebrations, the Pollachi Police have booked 70 cases againstmotorists for driving while under the influence of liquor, those who caused public nuisance,flouting pandemic norms and for selling banned tobaco products.
Upon orders from SP Arul Arasu, Superintendent of Police Coimbatore district and under the supervision of Sivakumar DSP of Pollachi, over 200 cops belonging to Pollachi Taluk including East and West were involved in vehicle checks and patrols.
On Deepavali day, 70 cases have been registered against those involved in causing public nuisance by consuming alcohol in public places, engaging in gang scuffles, selling cannabis and other banned tobacco products and tipsy motorists. Police said the offenders were also fined.
