Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer P. Kumaravel Pandian said Diwali is a festival celebrated with joy by the people where they exchange sweets with each other and burst firecrackers.
He asked the public to follow the instructions given by the Pollution Control Department. He asked the parents to watch their children closely when they burst firecrackers. He also asked to avoid firecrackers that disturb pedestrians and motorists on the road.
He said firecracker waste should not be left on the street and asked people to set the waste aside and hand it over to the corporation employees. He requested the public to keep all parts of the corporation clean and tidy.
He added that the time limit for bursting firecrackers is from 6 am to 7 am and 7 pm to 8 pm. He also requested people avoid firecrackers near hospitals and worship places.
He said it is the duty and responsibility of each and every one to protect the environment and asked the people living in the Coimbatore Corporation area to make sure that everyone celebrates a pollution-free Diwali.
