The Nilgiris: Swearing-in ceremony of 311 young army soldiers was held today at the Madras Regiment Center in Wellington, Coonoor, Nilgiris.
The Nilgiris: Swearing-in ceremony of 311 young army soldiers was held today at the Madras Regiment Center in Wellington, Coonoor, Nilgiris.
Wellington Army Camp near Coonoor, trains youth from the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. The trainees will be then sent to work in army camps in the border areas of India. The swearing-in ceremony of 311 soldiers, who had completed 46 weeks of training, was held today.
At the end of the training, the soldiers took the oath of allegiance upon the Bhagavad Gita, the Bible, the Quran and the National Flag with salt.
Awards and medals were presented to 5 soldiers who excelled during training. Brigadier Rajeshwar Singh spoke and praised the young soldiers for achieving the highest form of quality training. He also lauded the efforts of the Madras Regiment Center to provide training to Indian Army soldiers.
He complimented and congratulated all the soldiers who worked very hard even during the COVID pandemic. He also greeted the parents of the young trainees who were unable to attend this ceremony due to COVID-19. The 311 soldiers who have completed the training will be sent to the battalions assigned to them. The event was attended by many high ranking officers, junior officers, military personnel and teachers.
