Man threatens parents of minor girl of posting obscene photos for rejecting marriage proposal
Coimbatore: A private company employee has been arrested for threatening to post obscene pictures of a minor girl on social networking sites, after her parents refused his proposal to marry their daughter.
S Ranjith (30) from Chellamalai near Bodinayakanur in Theni district is employed in a private company in Saravanampatti, Coimbatore. He lives in a rented house in Viswasapuram close to his work place. Meanwhile, Ranjith got acquainted with a 17-year-old girl from Thoppampatti, Coimbatore through Instagram, a few months ago.
Later, the two exchanged cell phone numbers and talked frequently and allegedly fell in love. Ranjit who has already married concealed the fact and enticed the minor girl into marriage.When the love affair came to the notice of the girl's house, they opposed it and advised the girl to give up her love. They also have contacted Ranjith and warned him.
Irked by the girl's parents decision, Ranjith went to the girl's house and proposed to her parents to get them married. A dispute erupted, after the parents vehemently opposed his proposal and warned him to leave his daughter.
Following the verbal war, Ranjith has allegedly threatened to kill the girl's parents and also threatened to morph the pictures of the girl and post them on social networking sites. Shocked by his threats, the girl's mother lodged a complaint with the Thudiyalur police.
After investigation, Thudiyalur Police registered a case under Section 294 of the Information Technology Act 2000 and arrested Ranjith. He was produced in court and remanded in custody.
Few years back, Ranjith fell in love with a woman from Nepal and got married. The couple seperated due to some issues.
