While members of Police and Corporation are constantly announcing in loudspeakers asking people and shopowners, to avoid overcrowding, but none seem to pay heed. To prevent a resurgence of COVID-19 at a time when new cases and deaths have been on a downward trend, the callousness by people pose severe challenge to the district administration and health department.
Last minute, shoppers along with children were seen over crowding shops and street vendors to buy clothes. Worryingly, many children were seen without face masks.
The police engaged in strict surveillance from watch towers are directing the public to avoid over crowding and making announcements on PA systems.
Heavy traffic congestion was seen in Town Hall, Oppanakara Street, Railway Station, Goods Shed Road, RS Puram, Gandhipuram and Crosscut Road. Negligence by the Public in flouting Covid norms is not only putting themselves at the risk of contracting COVID-19 but also the society at large.
The public have requested the district administration to implement even stringent preventive measures and impose punishments on those who flout Covid norms.
