Meanwhile, the central government has announced a special loan of Rs 10,000 for roadside vendors. Also special camps were set up on behalf of the corporation to obtain documents and upload them through a website to obtain bank loans. Thousands of roadside vendors attended special loan camps in various parts of Coimbatore and submitted their documents. Meanwhile, there has been a complaint that the identity cards issued on behalf of the corporation to roadside vendors have not yet been renewed.
In this regard, Coimbatore District Roadside and Pavement Traders Welfare Association President Mani said that roadside vendors continue to be harassed when they go to the banks and ask for a loan of Rs 10,000 announced by the central government. So far, only about 1000 people have been given the loans. He said some banks say that the identity cards for roadside vendors have expired. Therefore he urged that new cards should be issued to roadside vendors and corporation administration should take action to ensure they recieve the loans.
