With 45492 total positive cases in the city, Coimbatore has been witnessing a drop in the fresh cases since November.
Speaking about this, a doctor in the government hospital said that number of patients discharging each day have been increased even though he didn't provide no exact numbers.
“We were worried about the whopping number of cases few months back but to our surprise the number of cases started to decline slowly. Also, the number of patients discharging each day is on the increase, thanks to the health experts and doctors for their service”.
Officials working in coronavirus management in the city limit have confessed that it is due to the screening and the number of patients turning positive.
The official said, of close to 4,000 people being screened daily on all the zones in the city, only very few of them are now turning positive that is why the fresh cases declined and the number of discharges has increased.
On Tuesday, Coimbatore reported 196 fresh cases taking the total to 45492, in which 43897 of them are discharged. The death toll stands at 577 and active cases on 1018.
