District Collector Rajamani advised to avoid bursting firecrackers near temples and hospitals in Coimbatore


Coimbatore: District Collector Rajamani advised to avoid bursting firecrackers near temples and hospitals.

In a press release he said that based on the Supreme Court ruling, the Tamil Nadu government has given permission to burst fireworks on Diwali from 6 am to 7 pm and from 7 pm to 8 pm. The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board will measure air quality in all the corporations of Tamil Nadu for 7 days before Diwali and 7 days after Diwali for a total of 14 days.

He said "it is the duty and responsibility of everyone to preserve the environment. The public should burst low-pollution fireworks to celebrate safe Diwali. The public can stand in open spaces and set off fireworks through the welfare associations in the area and with the prior permission of the local authorities."

He also asked "to avoid firecrackers that make heavy noise. Bursting crackers must be avoided near hospitals and places of worship and in places where silence needs to be maintained. Pleaseavoid exploding fireworks near huts and areas with flammable items. People should cooperate to celebrate accident-free and pollution-free Diwali.
