1 ton ration rice that was being smuggled from Pollachi confiscated
Coimbatore: Civil Supplies Department officials have seized a vehicle carrying one ton of ration rice smuggling it from Pollachi to Kerala. Incidents of smuggling of ration rice via Pollachi to Kerala have been on the rise.
Today, a vehicle belonging to the suspect was stopped by the public in the area through the Kolarpatti-Cholapalayam village near Pollachi. But when the unidentified persons saw the public, they parked the vehicle on the roadside and fled.
The public was shocked to find bundles of ration rice in the vehicle and informed the civic supply authorities.
Officers rushed to the scene and seized one ton of ration rice and the vehicle used for the smuggling. They are searching for the owner of the vehicle and the smugglers.
