A consultative meeting was held today at the Pollachi Sub-Collector's office on the precautionary measures against the spread of coronavirus disease. Pollachi DSP Sivakumar, Tahsildar Thanigaivel, Municipal Health Officer Manickavel and other officials were present at the consultative meeting chaired by Sub-Collector Vaithiyanathan.

The meeting was also attended by many including Pollachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry executives and traders. Speaking on the occasion, Sub-Collector Vaithiyanathan said that the crowd is high ahead of the Diwali festival. He said wearing masks is mandatory in shops and business establishments should ensure preventive equipment including sanitizer dispensers are in place. He said firecracker shops must be properly licensed and sweet and snack shops should ensure food items are prepared without adulteration.
He said strict action will be taken against shops violating the preventive measures. Pollachi DSP Sivakumar said that the city is experiencing heavy traffic due to overcrowding. Police teams have been formed to monitor this. He said trucks will not be allowed in the city during the day to control traffic congestion. He added that surveillance is being carried out by placing CCTV cameras at key locations and asked businesses to cooperate in order to control traffic congestion.
