The people here say that a government higher secondary school is required for both sexes to study up to Standard XII. They said the girls in the area, especially muslims, have to travel long distances to get on buses and go to the Government School in Oppanakara street and the Presentation Convent near the Head Post Office. They also said many drop out halfway because they have to travel long distances. Adolescent girls have many difficulties going back and forth.
They said education is a very important basic need. The people of the Karumbukkadai area have been asking for a higher secondary school for about twenty years. They have requested that Minister SP Velumani, the district administration and the education department should consider this request and build a school. They said the emergence of a well-educated and strong young society is very essential for the development of India and added that there is a huge multi-talented student community in this area that needs proper guidance.
They requested that social and political organizations should also urge the government to build the school in this area. Similarly, they also requested state-owned banks and basic facilities such as a primary health center and library should be opened in the area.
