DCP outlines 15 accident prone areas in Coimbatore; fatalities due to accidents has reduced compared to last year
Coimbatore: Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Mutharasu has outlined 15 most accident prone areas in the city. He said intensive efforts are being taken to prevent accidents and loss of lives in the city.
According to the report, 15 places in the city have been identified as frequent accident areas and have been marked ear-marked for intensive preventive measures.
Areas of frequent fatalities are as follows: Anna Silai on Avinashi Road, Peelamedu College Area, SITRA, KMCH Junction Area, Goldwins, Vasantha Mill on Trichy Road, Singanallur Bus Stand Junction, Amman Kulam Bus Stop on Sathy Road, Sungam Classic Road Junction near Valankulam, Nanjundapuram Road Flyover landing area, Podanur GD Tank Road Junction, Pollachi Road Ponkaliamman Temple, Mettupalayam Road Flower Market, Saibaba Colony Alagesan Road, and the area near Shakti Engineering College on L&T Road.
He said that accidental deaths across Tamil Nadu have dropped by 20 percent and 53 percent in Coimbatore. He noted that same month last year, 114 people died in Coimbatore, but only 54 people have dead this year due to accident.
