Two persons under the influence of alcohol kill themselves in separate incidents in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Though it is difficult to narrow down to a single reason on why people come to commit suicide. With deaths due to suicide increasing everyday, alcoholism is certainly an important factor triggering suicidal thoughts and suicide. The two different incidents reported in Coimbatore on Monday stands proof to it, as two men under the influence of alcohol committed suicide.
In the first incident, Saravanakumar (25), works as a labourer and hails from Naickenpalayam next to Periyanaickenpalayam near Coimbatore. On the day of the incident, he reportedly came home drunk and entered into a tussle with his parents complaining bad taste of food served to him by his mother. In a fit of rage, Saravanakumar slapped his mother. Shattered by his behaviour, his mother wept in despair and pain.
Ashamed by his actions, Saravanakumar left his home in a depressed state and vented his guilt to his friends. Shortly, he arrived to his home and fainted off. His helpless mother with the help of the neighbours rushed him to a hospital, where he was declared dead upon arrival. Periyanaickenpalayam police have registered a case and are investigation.
In another incident, Palanisamy (45), a labourer from Rangasamudram had been allegedly under lot of financial stress. On Sunday, when he came home drunk he was reprimanded by his mother. Following which, he hung himself to death. The police retrieved his corpse and sent to autopsy.
Both the suicide cases have been registered under section 174.
