Coimbatore: After eight months Cinema theatres re-opened today in Coimbatore district. As per Vivid norms, the theatres will operate at 50% capacity and follow all standard operating procedures issued by the state government related in view of the pandemic situation.
Coimbatore: After eight months Cinema theatres re-opened today in Coimbatore district. As per Vivid norms, the theatres will operate at 50% capacity and follow all standard operating procedures issued by the state government related in view of the pandemic situation.
Following gradual Covid relaxations, the Tamil Nadu government had announced that cinema theaters will be opened in the State from November 10th and a list of SOPs has been issued to the theatres to ensure safety of the people visiting the movie halls.
"As advised by the Tamil Nadu State government all theatres will follow the prescribed Covid norms and ensure safety of the peoole. As theatres were closed for about eight months, deep cleaning and disinfection had to be carried out due to large amount of dust accumulation", told a member of DistrictTheatre association.
He added that there are about 70 theatres in the district. Re-opening of the theatres has brought much joy amid the movie buffs. As per the Covid norms, only every other seat can be occupied and it is mandatory for the public to wear face masks.
Upon entering the movie hall, the public will be provided with sanitisers and sensitised to maintain social distancing inside the movie hall. Only packed food items will be sold in the canteens, he said.
In addition, AC theaters will follow the SOPs issued by the government. However, the number of shows in the theatres will be decided by respective managements. Restrictions on releasing new movies has has left the fans disappointed, he noted.
