Singanallur MLA N. Karthik said, "Overbridge work in Coimbatore is progressing at a snail's pace. The Highways Department which is under the control of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu is not good at planning. More than 36 overbridges including the Avarampalayam railway overbridge were planned during the DMK regime. There are over a thousand small, medium and micro enterprises in the Avarampalayam area. Industrial development in the Avarampalayam area has been severely affected due to the delay in the overbridge work which is going on at a very slow pace due to the negligent attitude of the officials.
