Coimbatore: District Collector K Rajamani said that 8 specials team have been formed to monitor the crowds in the shops ahead of the Diwali festival in Coimbatore.
Serious action is being taken on behalf of the district administration to control the coronavirus in Coimbatore. Following this, in Coimbatore district, the number of infections has dropped to an average of 200 to 250 per day. As Diwali is to be celebrated on the 14th, crowds are flocking to the shops in the city to buy new clothes and other things. Due to this, there is a risk of coronavirus infection spreading fast again.
The Collector who spoke about the COVID preventive measures undertaken by the District Administration said, "Lot of crowd is witnessed in Oppanakara street, RS Puram, 100 ft Road and Crosscut Road due to the Diwali festival. Therefore, 8 special teams have been set up to monitor whether the coronavirus norms guidelines are being violated in this area.
Each team includes cops, revenue officials and corporation officials. They will be on patrol in the above areas from 10 am to 10 pm. Public who do not wear face masks, shops and businesses that do not follow the COVID norms will be fined on the spot.
It is to be noted coronavirus infection is declining rapidly in Coimbatore now. Of the 6 thousand streets in Coimbatore, only 30 register more than 3 COVID infections per day. The number of containment zones have come down to 40 from 200."
