Coimbatore: Consultative meetings were held with parents at Valparai schools on reopening schools. The government has announced that the classes standards 9, 10, 11, and 12 will be reopened on November 16.
This was opposed by parents, academicians and political parties. Hence the government directed the schools to seek views of parents on whether or not to open government and private schools across the state. Accordingly, meetings were held today at all government, government-aided and private schools in Valparai. Parents were asked to come to the schools at 9 am.

Based on this, the parents came one by one to the schools where their children are studying. They were then taken to classrooms and given forms and instructed to record their comments on whether schools should reopen or not.
Forms received from parents are to be sent to higher education authorities within 12 hours. Parents opined they have no problem with sending their children to school, but the government should clarify what kind of protection their children will be provided at schools.
