Accordingly, those who failed to wear face masks are fined Rs. 200 and those who spit in public places are fined Rs. 500.
Shops, businesses and factories that do not comply with the Tamil Nadu government's coronavirus prevention guidelines are also fined. In total, a fine of Rs 86 lakhs has been imposed in Coimbatore district so far, officials said.
An official with the district administration said about 75 per cent of those diagnosed with coronavirus live in the Coimbatore city area. Due to this, COVID regulations have been tightened in the corporation limits.
He added that violators of these rules are fined and fines of Rs 86 lakhs have been imposed so far in the entire Coimbatore district. He said a total of Rs. 34 lakhs has been levied in corporation limits alone.
