Nirupan Chakravarty, State Vice President of the SFI, said that the Tamil Nadu BJP president had started the Vetrivel Yatra in Tamil Nadu with the aim of turning Tamil Nadu into a land of unrest and to carry out a planned attack on dalits and muslims. He said that 20 people have committed suicide due to NEET exams in the last six years and added that the Vel Yatra is an effort to divert public's attention from NEET exams. He also pointed out that the law that allows everyone to become a priest has not been fully implemented and about 80% of youngsters are still unemployed after graduation.
The central government has announced that it will create jobs for two crore people a year, but 20 crore youngsters are suffering from unemployment. He said steps are being taken to open schools and colleges while the students who wrote the arrears exam are waiting for results.
He said that the SFI has started a yatra marching towards the TN Assembly, insisting that the Government of Tamil Nadu should stop supporting the activities of the Central Government andthat the NEET examination should be cancelled and job opportunities should be created.

More than 10 persons were arrested. There was a heated argument between the police and the SFI members as the police detained them.

This led to a tussle when the police tried to arrest them.
