The first lockdown was imposed on March 23 nationwide due to COVID-19. Due to this all the schools and colleges remain closed for more than the last 8 months. Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu government is taking steps to open schools and colleges as the COVID cases are declining. As part of this, it has been decided to open standards 9, 10, 11 and 12 from November 16th.
However, the public have different opinions about the reopening of schools. Following this, a consultative meeting was held today with parents in government and private schools across Tamil Nadu.

Meetings were held today at 401 government and private schools in Tirupur district private schools in Tirupur district.
Temperature checks were done for parents before attending the meeting and they were given sanitizers. Applications on whether or not to open the classes were then submitted. All these applications will be sent to the Tamil Nadu government by this evening. Parents say that the schools have not been open for the last 8 months, which has greatly affected the mental makeup of the students. They said that in the interest of the students and their future, the government should take immediate action to open schools.
