Coimbatore: Chellammal (102) hails from Chikkarampalayam next to Karamadai near Coimbatore. She has two sons and four daughters.
She said that her sons and daughters took 5 acres and 25 cents of her agricultural land after everyone was married off. She alleged that they had given her only Rs. 6,000 stating that was her share and left her to suffer alone.
She said her youngest daughter had cheated her by registering her land through a gift deed and has now abandoned her. She said she is now struggling to live. She also said that they took the house that she was living in.
She had appealed to Karamadai police but no action was taken. Demanding that her house should be given back to her, she came to the district collector's office with a kerosene can today to self-immolate if no action is taken.
She is now sitting near the collectorate after the police there stopped her and told that appropriate action would be taken.
