Coimbatore: While unexpected power cuts continue to affect the patients, especially who undergo treatment in a critical stage at various government hospitals, solar power developers have come forward to help the state government if it shows interest in establishing storage facilities at hospitals and various other important places.

Solar energy which comes under the renewable energy sector helps to cater to the rising electricity demands across the nation. India has an installed capacity of more than 20,00 0MW solar power generation to which Tamil Nadu contributes 3,500 MW. Lack of electricity storage facilities in government hospitals continues to affect patients. In some incidents, patients have also died due to stoppage in oxygen supply, ventilators and various other life saving equipment due to unexpected power cuts. Considering the importance, solar energy developers of Tamil nadu have come forward to help provide solar power storage facilities at government hospitals.

Tamilnadu Solar Power Generators Association(TANSPA) Treasurer, Sastha M Raja said,"Solar energy will give constant electricity throughout the year. We can get the output as predicted. The generated electricity can be stored in lithium ion batteries at government hospitals and various other important places and can be used during the power cuts."

He added, "We are ready to help the state government if they show interest in establishing solar electricity storage facilities in government hospitals and various other important places. This can be done through private partnership mode. Many developers will come forward to generate solar energy inside hospital premises, store it using lithium ion batteries and ensure uninterrupted electricity, which can save many lives."
