Coimbatore: Murugan (40) from Viswasapuram area in Saravanampatti runs a shop called Maruthi Jewellery on Sathi Main Road. After business hours last night, Muruguan locked the shop and went home.
Coimbatore: Murugan (40) from Viswasapuram area in Saravanampatti runs a shop called Maruthi Jewellery on Sathi Main Road. After business hours last night, Muruguan locked the shop and went home. People who were out for walking in the area this morning informed shop owner Murugan and Saravanampatti police that the shop had been broken into.
Following this, police and Murugan rushed to the shop immediately. It was revealed that the robbers had broken the front doors of the store and gained entry. While 80 sovereign gold which was kept in a locker inside the shop was safe, the thieves had stolen 25 kg of silverware and 10 sovereigns of old gold jewellery.
When police examined the CCTV footage, it was found that the cameras were not working. Therefore, they have started an investigation based on fingerprints and traces found at the spot. The robbery in a densely populated area has caused fear among the people of the area.
