Anti-corruption police are conducting raids at government offices following reports of bribery in government offices as Diwali approaches. The police arrested a fire department official a few days ago on a complaint that he asked for a bribe to issue a fireworks license. He was arrested after receiving Rs 5,000 to issue the license.
In this case, on the information received that bribes are being taken at the office of the sub-registrar on Raja Street, more than five policemen led by DSP Ganesh conducted a surprise raid.
In particular, the raid took place in the room and office premises of the sub-registrar Karthikeyan. During the raid, the police investigated the brokers who were in the registrar's office and people who came for registration purposes.
Unaccounted money of Rs 1.70 lakh was seized during the raid which lasted for more than an hour.
