Coimbatore: District AISF condemns City Police for making people run pillar to post for lodging complaints
Coimbatore: In a press statement issued by All India Student Federation (AISF), the organisation has alleged that students were made to run pillar to post for lodging a complaint against illegal confiscation of degree certificates by an educational.institute.
According to the release, SSM Educational Trust, located at 6th Street, Gandhipuram, has illegally confiscated the certificates of three students from Kannampalayam, Sulur Circle, Coimbatore District.
When they contacted IS Ganesh (IB) on the phone to find out which police station limit that SSM Educational Trust comes under, he informed that it comes under Kattoor Station limits. However, he allegedly informed the students even if they file a petition to the District Collector, the complaint will be directed back to the police station.
Following this, the students visited the C1 Kattoor Station, where Inspector Latha allegedly l in an impolite manner had asked the students to go back to Sulur police station and complaint.
The students lamented that if this is how members of students union are treated, what will be the plight of common man who resort to police station for various problems.
The release said that all three students hail from economically backward families and due to lack of certificates they were unable to pursue education.
AISF in their statement condemned the police for their lethargic behaviours towards complainants and cited that the students were made to walk up and down for filing a legitimate complaint.
They also alleged that this was the state of affair at many police stations.
AISF will fight against such callousness of the police and stand in support of the students, until they get their certificates back.
