There is no alternative to high power towers, farmers should cooperate considering development of state - TN Chief Minister

Tirupur: There is no alternative to the plan of building high power towers through farmlands and farmers should cooperate for the development of our state, said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami in Tirupur.

Tirupur: There is no alternative to the plan of building high power towers through farmlands and farmers should cooperate for the development of our state, said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami in Tirupur.

TN CM visited Tirupur today to provide welfare assistance to several beneficiaries, lay the foundation stone for various development projects, declare open completed projects and inspect corona prevention measures.

He distributed welfare assistance worth 67 crore to 5592 beneficiaries on behalf of 29 departments. In addition, he laid the foundation stone for development projects worth Rs 287 crore 38 lakh 41 thousand and declared open development projects completed at a cost of Rs 31 crore 68 lakh 10 thousand. He also attended a review meeting on COVID prevention measures at the collectorate.

Speaking to reporters later, the CM said, "In Tamil Nadu, liquor stores are being gradually reduced, as promised by former chief minister Amma during the election time.

The DMK has no moral right to talk about the release of 7 people, including Perarivalan, involved in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. It was during our rule that Perarivalan was granted parole twice. The bill for the release of 7 people on humanitarian grounds has been passed and sent to the Governor.

As farmers from other states have agreed to the construction of high power towers in their lands in order to provide electricity to our state, our farmers must cooperate for the development of our state and permit the erection of the towers on their lands. There is no alternative plan to this.

In order to fully utilize the river water flowing towards the west, the Parambikulam-Aliyar project is being implemented and the TN Government is also engaged in ongoing talks on the Pandiyar-Punnampuzha project. Progress has been made in those negotiations."

He added that arrests have been made for violating the ban in the case of denial of permission for BJP's Vel pilgrimage.

Ministers Udumalai Radhakrishnan, SP Velumani, Deputy Speaker Pollachi Jayaraman and MLAs were also present on the occasion.
