Coimbatore: Projects including a borewell and toilets at a cost of Rs 14.22 lakh allocated from PR Natarajan MP's constituency development fund were opened for usage at Coimbatore Central Prison, today.
Coimbatore: Projects including a borewell and toilets at a cost of Rs 14.22 lakh allocated from PR Natarajan MP's constituency development fund were opened for usage at Coimbatore Central Prison, today.
With mire than 2000 inmates, the Coimbatore Central Jail lack basic amenities including visitors toilets and borwell facilities inside the prison. Often, relatives, lawyers who visit the inmates had to undergo much inconvenience due to lack of toilet facilties.

Following this, the jail authorities made a request to Coimbatore MP PR Natarajan to allot funds for construction of toilets and a borewell at the prison.

Accordingly, PR Natarajan MP allocated Rs. 14.22 lakhs from his constituency development fund for constructing male and female restrooms, a septic tank and a borewell.

With the completion of work, the handing-over ceremony was held at the Coimbatore Central Jail today led by DIG Prisons G.Shanmuga Sundaram. MP PR Natarajan participated in the event and declared open the facilities.

The event was attended by Coimbatore Prisons SP R Krishnaraj and other prison officials.
