Complainant alleges delay by Thudiyalur Police in handling theft complaint; stage road roko with family in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Tense moments prevailed at Thudiyalur police station here on Thursday evening after a woman, a complainant along with her family staged a sit-in-protest alleging inaction by police on her theft complaint.
Lakshmi, hails from Sukrampalayam area near GN Mills on Mettupalayam Road, Coimbatore. She runs a grocery store at near Merku Thottam Murugan Temple area. On Wednesday night, her shop was burgled and the footages of the same has been captured by a nearby CCTV.
She alleged that the CCTV footage shows men stealing goods from her shop and dumping them in a vehicle and left the spot. The women along with the CCTV footages reported the issue to Thudiyalur police station.

Alleging that the police did not initiate any action on her complaint even after providing proof of theft, Lakshmi along with her family staged a sudden road roko in Thudiyalur condemning police inaction.

Traffic came to a standstill die to their protest which lasted over an hour.
Reports say that following her agitation, the complaint has been taken up for investigation.
