Coimbatore: Coimbatore: On the ever-bustling Avinashi Road in Coimbatore, vehicles including ambulances were stranded in an unusually heavy traffic jam from 6 pm to 8 pm yesterday.

Avinashi Road, from SITRA-Airport Road to Hotel Le Meridien, was hit by heavy traffic last night. Ambulances rushing to the hospital with patients were also stuck in the snarl.
Ambulances were unable to pass due to the many vehicles that were stranded on the road. It is to be noted that the ambulances were stuck in traffic for more than an hour, although the situation eased gradually.
The traffic was reported to be congested due to the Chief Minister's visit to Coimbatore, Nilgiris and Tirupur yesterday evening.
