Coimbatore: In a novel protest condemning price hike among others, All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) made Deepavali sweets and savouries out of paper and clay and sent it Prime Minister, Modi.

Hinting price hike of all essential products and loss of livelihood of several lakh people due to the pandemic situation and alleged centre's policies, several members of AIDWA made diwali sweets and savouries using clay.

They said that the sweets and savouries made of clay and paper will be sent to the Prime Minister to remind him of the plight of common people who face the wrath of price hike of essentials.

"How will people afford to buy diwali snacks, if the prices of essentials are so high?. This Deepavali will be a sweet less festival for the public and women. Will the centre and state governments take measures to help everyone celebrate the festival ?", they questioned.

The novel protest held at Park Street, here was led by District Secretary Radhika. Speaking to the media, she said that the people are gravely affected due to loss of livelihood and skyrocketing price of essentials. The policies of the central government has wreaked havoc in the lives of common man, she alleged.

"Under such financial crunch, people cannot afford to celebrate Deepavali. Hence, the State and the Centre have to provide provisions required for preparing sweets and savouries to the people through Public Distribution System", AIDWA, District Secretary told.

She added that AIDWA will be protest all over Tamil Nadu against price hikes.
