Coimbatore: In two different incidents in Coimbatore district, a 75-year-old elderly man and a woman allegedly commited suicide, allegedly due to depression. Cases have been filed by the police.
Coimbatore: In two different incidents in Coimbatore district, a 75-year-old elderly man and a woman allegedly commited suicide, allegedly due to depression. Cases have been filed by the police.
According to police report, Arumugam (75), a retired mill worker, from NR Mani Layout at Varadharajapuram in Singanallur went missing on October 30. He has reported to have left his home to withdraw money from an ATM centre. A police complaint was also filed by his family.
All efforts to locate him went in vain.Meanwhile, the police received a tip-off that an elderly man's body was found floating in theBhavani River at Samayapuram near Mettupalayam. After verification, the Police confirmed that the deceased was Arumugam. Investigations revealed that the 75-year-old elderly man was suffering from depression due to age-related ailments. He allegedly jumped into the river and ended his life.
In another incident, Chandra (40), wife of Asokan (45) from Pappampatti near Sulur, also committed suicide due to alleged depression. It is reported that the untimely death of her son left Chandra inconsolable and in a depressed state.Yesterday, she consumed poison and passed away at Coimbatore GH.
Both these deaths due to alleged depression have caused a a great deal of sorrow amid their family and neighbours.
