Coimbatore: A 22-year-old engineering student from Thoothukudi ended up in jail, here after he allegedly blackmailed the father of his ex-lover with nude photos of her.
According to police reports, Deveshar (22) from Thoothukudi and a girl from Kuniamuthur, Coimbatore were pursuing second year engineering at a private college in Karnataka. The duo were allegedly reported to be in love with each other. After lockdown, they were back to their hometowns.
Recently, the girl's father who came to know about their love affair, warned and advised her to end the relationship with the boy. Following which, the girl allegedly stopped talking to Deveshwar who repeatedly tried to contact her.
An enraged, Deveshwar entered into an argument with the girl's father and demanded to marry her. The girl's father denied his proposal and warned him not to interfere in his girl's life, anymore. Irked by this, Deveshwar has sent nude and private pictures of the girl to her father's Whatsapp.
Shattered by it, the girl's father questioned his daughter who clarified that Deveshwar had hacked her phone and stole those photos, while they were in good terms.
A complaint has been registered at Kuniamuthur police station on behalf of the girl. Based on her allegations, the police inquired the issue and booked Deveshwar under appropriate sections for intimidating and blackmailing the girl's family with her private photos.
He was later produced in the Court and remanded in Coimbatore central jail.
