Post 'Covid -19' outbreak, relaxations provided by the government under the extended lockdown have helped the domestic flight service sector witness a good progress. Initially only 5 flights were operated, but more than 15 flights are operated each day now. While the commencement of services has given relief, on the other side sudden cancellation of flights continues to be a problem for the passengers.
Kongu Global Forum(KGF), Director, D. Nanda Kumar said, "Cancellation of flights continues to be a routine one at Coimbatore Airport. Already only few services are provided and in this situation sudden cancellations of services affect passengers. This has not only caused huge inconvenience but also increased the threat of COVID infections since passenger's are made to travel to various other airports and wait unnecessarily."
He added that, "We also know about the airlines' difficulties in operating flights with fewer passenger's, but this is a crucial period for the entire nation and considering this, all the airlines should try to operate their flights without cancellations."
Sources from Airport Authority of India(AAI) said, "Each day, one or two flight services are cancelled at Coimbatore, but the airlines provide alternative options and ensure the passengers who have booked the tickets reach their destinations."
