A pregnant Bhuvaneswari had been having labor pain for the last 2 months. She was only 6 months pregnant at the time. She was subsequently admitted to Tirupur Government General Hospital for treatment.
She gave birth to a baby boy by caesarean section due to excessive labor pains. The baby weighed just 550 grams. Various special treatments were given at the government hospital. The baby was ventilated to avoid suffocation. Drugs were given to strengthen his lungs and facilitate their growth. Treatments for latching in order to breastfeed were also given. This treatment was continued for more than the last 2 months.
Currently the child is healthy and weighs 1.5 kg. Doctors at the government hospital that saved the baby boy with a low birth weight discharged him today. It is to be noted that babies weighing 750 grams and 850 grams have been saved at the hospital earlier. This is the first time a baby born weighing 550 grams has been saved. Dean Dr. Valli congratulated the doctors who achieved this feat.
