In order to avoid discrepancies in COVID test results, private testing centres should follow the guidelines of health officials - Coimbatore District Collector


The Nilgiris: Coimbatore District Collector has said that private testing centres should follow the guidelines of Health Department Officials in order to avoid discrepancies in COVID test results.

A review meeting with private laboratories that conduct COVID tests and health officials was chaired by Coimbatore District Collector, K. Rajamani, yesterday.

He said that private laboratories conducting coronavirus testing should publish the results of the samples tested in their laboratories without delay and ascertain that those who test positive are headed towards hospital for treatment.

He urged that the testing centres should immediately report their contact details to the Health Department and Coimbatore Corporation and all private laboratories must test the visitors with pulse oximeters and take steps to send those with COVID symptoms to hospital before the test results are available.

He reiterated that the private testing centers should charge only government-mandated fees. Furthermore, private laboratories should operate as instructed by health officials to ensure that test results do not vary from one laboratory to another. He insisted that C. T. value should be followed according to the guidelines of the health officials.

The meeting was attended by District Revenue Officer Ramadurai Murugan, Joint Director of Medical and Rural Health Services Krishna, and representatives of private testing centres and government officials.
