Coimbatore: The Southwest monsoon has been causing heavy rains in Coimbatore district over the past few days. On a single day yesterday, a total of 471.4 mm rain and an average rainfall of 33.67 mm wererecorded.

The monsoon has intensified in Coimbatore causing the flooding of Noyyal and Kovai Kutralam. While the water level in the Siruvani dam has increased to 28.44 feet, 12 TMC water has been pouring into the Pillur dam in Mettupalayam Taluk.
